Here is a pretty good recap on where everything stands right now by Brent Zwerneman of the San-Antonio Express.

“Aggies Inching Closer to SEC”

So Close I Can Taste It

Posted on: August 12th, 2011 by SECAG No Comments

It looks like things have really picked over the last few days with renewed talks of Texas A&M leaving the little 12 for the SEC! Of course this is all going on while I am on vacation with little Internet access and more than enough fishing to distract me. I’ve been trying to catch up each night but know I’m not even close to keeping up with everything that is being said. Here is one nice little article/blog dispelling some myths that are swirling about the whole situation.

Dispelling 5 Myths of SEC Expansion

I hope when I get back to town on Sunday to wade through a lot of what has been written and put some stuff together here. Maybe if we are really lucky I’ll have to get my thoughts together on the move being finally announced, but I won’t count on it just yet.

Aggies to the SEC hope will never die!

Here is a recent great article that was written by Billy Luicci of Texags.com. In it he discusses the current Aggies to the SEC climate:

Will A&M trigger the next realignment explosion?

Basketball Coaching Search

Now I expected Turgeon to leave us at some point and surprisingly I’m not even that upset that he did. I think he was a good coach and a good man, but I think at least one more coaching change was going to be needed to get over the hump of where we have been. Now don’t get me wrong I like the consistent wins and good teams, but I’m looking for more and that jump to the next level.

The one thing that I’m upset about in this change is the timing. This late in the game with all the new coaches situated and contract extensions signed we are in a tough spot. I think to get any coach that we would really want and be excited about will take a significant amount of money more than we would have paid just a month or two ago with is tough, but I sure hope Mr. Byrne bites that bullet and gets the best coach for Texas A&M. I’m sure he will and I have a lot of trust in Bill to get it done, so I’ll sit back and watch this unfold and check back when this is done.

Some names that have been thrown around for you to ponder in the mean time:
Buzz Williams
Josh Pastner
Scott Spinelli
Fran Fraschilla
Tim Floyd
Tim Miles
Johnny Jone

Facelift and New Posts

First off, unfortunately the Ags are still apart of the little 12, and that doesn’t appear to be changing any time soon. With the new tv contracts being worked out and the money supposedly being what we wanted this conference seems to be taped together for the short term, and we can only hope we are given a reason to finally go SEC as soon as possible.

Also I know I’ve been down right horrible at posting this year, but I’m planning on turning that around this next year. This next football season has many Aggies including myself very excited! This team is primed for a huge year and it should be very fun to watch. That combined with our top 15 baseball team and basketball team with really high expectations and new coach should make for a great ’11-’12 year for the Texas Aggies.

With all the excitement and expectations I hope I will be drawn to post more and more over the next year. I also hope to rebuild the site to look better and maybe have some other features that would be worth visiting for. I built this one in a little more than a few hours, so I’m thinking if I actually put in a little time and though I can build a site that at least looks good even if I forget to come post.

Here is another article that might push someone off the fence if they just weren’t sure about taking the SEC leap! It’s worth the read and I’m trying to hold back my excitement because I know this is all a slow process, but all the talk and thought of the Texas Aggies to the SEC heating up, really gets me going!

Texas A&M Bolting to the SEC Is Just a Matter of Time

It’s starting up again!

I don’t really expect Texas A&M or any other little 12 school to really make a jump this soon, but count me in with the crowd of people that would be extremely excited about it. There has been a lot of radio chatter and internet babble about the Aggies to the SEC lately so I figured I should get back to actually using this site. So I plan to start developing and building starting very soon.

For now, here is an article with a scenario that I personally wouldn’t mind at all!

Texas A&M to the SEC? How the Big 12 Could Dissolve, Quickly.

Frustrated

I’m just so frustrated watching this Texas Aggie football team play. I never would have imagined going into this season, that the #5 offense in the nation from a year ago would be carried by a defense that finished lower than 100, but that is exactly what is happening.

Our defense is improved beyond where I imagined we could be. It’s hard to watch them be put into bad spot after bad spot because of offensive turnovers causing short fields, and so many three and outs that they are so worn out that they are playing and tackling on pure heart and effort. It is fun to watch defense again, but it would be even nicer to see any kind of offensive effort help them out at all.

Now I’m usually not one for big QB changes or “leadership” changes, but something is just not right with Jerrod Johnson at this point. Be it physical or even worse a mental issue, it is time for a change. I know, I know, the backup quarterback is always the best quarterback on the team, but something needs to happen, and happen now. If it is a physical issue, it’s time for JJ to tell someone and stop pressing and dragging the entire team down. If it is a mental thing, it is beyond time for this coaching staff to recognize this and make the necessary change. I mean we watched this guy literally sit down down TWICE today. I know you don’t want to get hit, no one does, but to completely give up before you are even touched is just embarrassing.

Anyway, I’m riding high on bad emotion and whiskey right now, so I’ll try and get back with more clearer thoughts later this week after I get a chance to re-watch this game(as incredibly painful as it will be).

Oh and if there anyone actually reading this, thanks and sorry I haven’t kept up with this in a while, I’m going to try and make this more of a regular thing, going over Aggie sports and the sporting world in General. On that note, nice job Rangers, congrats not the first home playoff victory ever today, it was definitely earned!

Time for a new season!

Posted on: September 3rd, 2010 by SECAG No Comments

Really stoked about the 2010 season that has now begun, even knowing we will be stuck in the Little XII for the time being. I’ll try and keep up with all things Aggie football and probably a bit of general college football here as the season progresses, so keep coming back, and don’t hesitate to share your thoughts as well.

In fact if anyone is interested in writing every now and again about the Ags and or college football in general, let me know and I’ll get you an account set up to share.

Thanks and Gig ’em Ags!!!
